The intensive faming of animals create large amounts of CO2 and, consequently ,those who follow this diet where it is a very meat is guilty of almost twice the emissions compared to a vegetarian, and even more to a vegan.
To say a new English research.
The study wanted to compare the eating habits of about 55000 people in the Uk who ate meat, fish or just followed a vegetarian or vegan diet. The purpose of the research was to quantify the CO2 emissions of which were responsible for the different groups according to their own food style.
Here are the results, calculated on a standard of 2000 kcal : those who eat a lot of meat on a daily basis (more than 100 grams every day) it is responsible for the issuance of 7,19 kg of CO2 every day, those who consumed an average of 5.63 kg, who eat little (less than 50 grams every day) 4.67 kg; 3.91 kg who eats only fish, vegetarians 3.81 kg and vegans 2.89 kg.
All this is a consequence of the fact that to produce a 1 kg of beef was estimated emission of 68.8 kg of CO2 and for that ovine of 64.2 kg. A very different situation if you grow 1 kg of corn (which produces only 0.7 kg of CO2), of faglioli (0.8 kg) or potatoes (0.4 kg).
This effectively means that a vegetarian diet is vegan and even more able to halve emissions from the food sector.
All this is further confirmation of what he had already said last year a study of the United Nations, entitled "Nutrient Our World," in which it was recommended to become Demitarian, namely to halve the consumption of meat to protect the environment as well as their health.
